Nail Conditions at Foot Foundation
Toenails protect the tips of the toes and play a role in stability and function. However, they are also prone to infection, trauma, and deformities that can cause pain, embarrassment, or difficulty with footwear.
At Foot Foundation, our podiatrists provide specialist diagnosis and management of all nail conditions. Whether it’s an ingrown toenail causing severe pain, a fungal infection affecting nail appearance, or trauma-related damage, we offer conservative and advanced treatments tailored to your needs.
Common Nail Conditions
Ingrown Toenails (Onychocryptosis): where the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin, causing pain, swelling, and infection.
Fungal Nail Infections (Onychomycosis): fungal invasion of the nail, leading to thick, discoloured, or crumbly nails.
Thickened or Deformed Nails (Onychogryphosis): nails that become abnormally thick, curved, or misshapen, often from trauma or long-term pressure.
Damaged or Trauma Nails: nails injured from sport, dropping objects, or repetitive pressure, sometimes leading to permanent deformity.
Psoriatic & Inflammatory Nail Changes: nails affected by psoriasis, eczema, or systemic disease, causing pitting, discolouration, or brittleness.
